Surfaced (“we”, “us”) helps website owners understand and improve how their site shows up in Google Search and in AI search. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email us at hello.surfaced@gmail.com.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up, our authentication provider (Clerk) stores your email address and basic profile details so you can log in.

Audit information. When you run an audit, we process the website address you enter, the business details you provide, and the public content of the pages we crawl, in order to generate your report and recommendations.

Usage information. We keep a monthly count of how many AI-powered actions you use, so we can apply fair usage limits.

Saved audits. We store a short summary of your recent audits (date, website, score, issue counts) so you can track progress over time.

Google account data (only if you connect it). If you choose to connect Google Search Console or Google Analytics, we request read-only access and retrieve your search and visitor data to show it inside your report.

How we use Google user data

Surfaced’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

We request only read-only scopes (Search Console and Analytics). We use this data solely to display your own performance inside the app and to inform your recommendations. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, we do not share it with third parties, and we do not use it to train machine-learning models. You can disconnect at any time from your report, which removes our stored access.

How we use your information

To run your audits, generate recommendations, show you your data, apply usage limits, keep your account secure, and improve the product.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run Surfaced: Clerk (sign-in and account storage), Vercel (hosting), Anthropic (the AI that generates written recommendations from your audit content), and Google (the data you choose to connect). Your audit content and prompts are sent to Anthropic’s API to produce recommendations; Anthropic does not use API data to train its models.

Data retention

We keep your account data while your account is active, your recent audit summaries (up to the last 20), and any connected Google access until you disconnect it or delete your account. Contact us to delete your account and associated data.

Your choices

You can disconnect Google at any time, request access to or deletion of your data by emailing us, and stop using the service whenever you like.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies.

Changes

Surfaced is early and evolving, so we may update this policy. We will change the date at the top when we do.
